This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.

Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) has been living with a terrible secret in Coronation Street, and tonight he finally blurted out the truth to girlfriend Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).

Lauren and Aadi’s relationship blossomed when he supported her after she was hospitalised when her drink was spiked.

However, unbeknown to Lauren, it was Aadi who had put the drugs in the drink in the first place.

Having confiscated LSD from Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) at his midsummer party, Aadi agreed with Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) to take the drugs themselves.

Unfortunately, when Aadi left his spiked drink unattended, Lauren picked it up, believing it to be her own.

After ingesting the LSD, she was plagued by traumatic hallucinations of her abuser Joel Deering, and ended up falling over and suffering serious internal injuries.

Thankfully, she made a full recovery, and a guilty Aadi was by her side through it all.

While Lauren has been thriving with her new job and new relationship with Aadi, things haven’t been going quite so well for him.

He recently plunged the family business into debt and caused further trouble by attempting to scam his way out of it.

When the truth was revealed to Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin), Aadi was crushed under the weight of his disappointment, and turned to drinking to try to escape his problems.

While he was out, Lauren popped by to see him, and was concerned when she learnt that his bed hadn’t been slept in.

When she finally saw him, he was in a bad place and determined to carry on drinking.

In a bid to make him see that he wasn’t a bad person, Lauren pointed out how well he’d looked after her after she was spiked, which led him to blurt out that it was his drugged drink in the first place.

Lauren was understandably horrified – but mainly because Aadi had continued to lie to her for weeks.

He tried to explain that he never intended for anyone but himself to drink the spiked drink, and he had never been able to find the right time to come clean.

When he insisted that he was hoping to make it up to her, she pointed out that Joel used to say that too, before storming out.

In the café, Lauren approached Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) and was hurt to know that she also knew all about her twin brother’s escapades.

Things only got worse when Asha revealed that Aadi had wanted to get high to try to get over Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney), which did not go down well with Lauren.

It also came as a shock to Amy herself, who had overheard the conversation.

However, when she tried to broach the subject with Aadi, he refused to get into it and asked her to leave.

Will Aadi be able to repair his relationships with Lauren and Amy, or has too much come between them?

It may be too late for Aadi to even try building bridges, as Dev dropped a shocking bombshell on him at the end of tonight’s episode.

Insisting that he could no longer support him, Dev told Aadi that he had secured him a job in India working for cousin Vikram.

Aadi was less than impressed, but Dev didn’t give the impression that the move was optional.

This big decision comes after the announcement that actor Adam Hussain will be leaving Coronation Street, with Aadi departing at the end of the summer.

Taking to Instagram in April, Adam announced his departure with a sweet post.

‘I guess the secrets out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures,’ the actor penned, alongside a recent photo of the full Corrie cast.

‘Over the 5 years I’ve spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!

‘This isn’t a farewell for Aadi however, more like a see you later!

‘I’m excited to see what the future brings! Thank you Coronation Street for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time!’
