Coronation Street legend gets final send off in heartbreaking memorial scenes

Coronation Street residents gather together next week in the show as they attend the memorial of Craig Tinker (Colson Smith).
The local police officer was attacked while on duty by Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), who struck him over the head with a baseball bat.
Craig was rushed to hospital, but last night’s scenes saw his condition deteriorate, with doctors forced to perform CPR.
Tragically, they were unable to revive him, and Craig was pronounced dead, much to the devastation of viewers.

In upcoming episodes, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) reveals to Lisa (Vicky Myers) that Craig’s family want him to make a speech at the memorial.
On the morning of the event, Sarah (Tina O’Brien) is concerned to discover that Kit has already left for the day.
As the mourners gather for the memorial, Lisa notices that Kit hasn’t turned up. While Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) and Sarah desperately try and get hold of Kit, Lisa is forced to step in and deliver a heartfelt speech honouring Craig.

But where is Kit?
‘It feels like it’s done,’ star Colson Smith said previously. ‘It feels like it’s finished, like I’ve got everything that I’ve got from Coronation Street and that’s it now.
‘So it felt very much like a thank you, goodbye, goodnight type thing, because I know there’s no return for Craig and Colson in the future.
‘I have spoke to people who have left and not been killed and I just feel like, for me, it was 100% the right way to know that I’m not coming back.’
