Leanne’s Jealousy Boils Over as Amy and Rowan’s Relationship Takes a Dark Turn in New Coronation Street Twist
As Amy Barlow’s (Elle Mulvaney) interest in The Institute increases in Coronation Street, so does Leanne Battersby’s (Jane Danson) jealousy.
For weeks, Leanne was the only Weatherfield resident passionate about the organisation and what it has to offer. As Leanne got more comfortable within the group, leader Rowan (Emrhys Cooper) highlighted the importance in turning her attention to other people (we’d say targeting but, you know).
Leanne chose to approach Amy, a young woman who has experienced a great deal in the last few years.
When Toyah (Georgia Taylor) realised what Leanne was doing, she found Amy and tried to warn her about the dangers of joining the group (which is basically a cult) but sadly, Amy ignored Toyah and said she can do whatever she wants as an adult.
Aside from being incredibly creeped out by an AI version of Leanne’s late son Oliver, Amy has enjoyed learning about The Institute.
In upcoming episodes, as she prepares to set off on a retreat, Rowan approaches Amy and says she is destined for great things.
Overhearing the conversation is Leanne, who can’t help feel a little bit jealous of Amy’s development and new connection with Rowan.
Later, Rowan’s evil side resurfaces when he finds Nick (Ben Price) and tells him that, in exchange for not reporting him for assault, he wants the £20k investment Nick promised.
As expected with storylines that involve villainous characters, it won’t be too long until we see the back of cult leader Rowan.
But what will the next few weeks bring as Amy finds her feet alongside Rowan and the other members of the group?
And how will this impact Leanne?
