David Platt went to meet Clayton Hibbs in jail during the latest episode of Coronation Street and fans of the ITV soap were left seriously distracted by the prisoner
Coronation Street fans have admitted they are finding it “hard to believe” that Clayton Hibbs is Shona Platt’s son after he made a shock return to the ITV soap this week.
David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) recently received an email from Weatherfield Prison Services and was seen reaching for a letter when wife Shona (Julia Golding) walked in and stopped him in his tracks.
During Monday’s (November 11) episode, David shared with brother Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) about the visiting order he received from Clayton (Callum Harrison). Nick suggested that David should be honest with Shona as she will inevitably discover the truth, prompting David to devise a plan.

David later paid a visit to Clayton in prison, but it remains uncertain whether he will disclose this to Shona. As fans tuned into the latest instalment, some viewers were distracted by Clayton’s appearance as the actor appeared to look completely differet, with some questioning if the character had been reacast.
Taking to Reddit, one fan penned: “We saw David visit Shona’s son Clayton in prison today and all I can think about is why does he look older than David?! Not sure if it’s the same actor as before but if it is then damn prison has aged him. Also, wonder what this important thing he wants to talk to Shona about, unless he just wants to make amends.”
Another added: “Does anyone know how old Clayton is supposed to be? He looks mid to late 20s but how old would that make Shona? She was talking about having a baby with David so obviously she’s still of child bearing age so early 40s max (although she looks way younger).” A third person wrote: “Clayton looks older than Shona does. I have a hard time believing he is her son.”
Later in the week, David finds his wife in a distressed state as she reveals that she was visited by the police and informed that Clayton is in hospital but what has happened to the jailbird and will Shona find out the truth?
Fans will remember Clayton stabbed David’s wife Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) back in 2016 and he was later convicted of murder and received a sentence ranging from 15 years to life.
