Coronation Street fans have ‘strong feeling’ as they ‘work out’ Joel Deering’s killer
Coronation Street fans are convinced they know who killed Joel Deering as the ITV soap's 'whodunnit' continues - and it's none of the suspects already named so far
Coronation Street viewers have expressed a “strong feeling” about the identity of Joel Deering’s killer, and it’s not any of the currently revealed suspects. The Weatherfield murder mystery continues after the solicitor’s body was discovered last month.
Joel hasn’t been seen in real time on-screen since he failed to appear for his court hearing at the end of September.
He was accused of purchasing the drugs that induced Lauren Bolton’s premature labour of their son, Frankie, with the aim of causing her to miscarry. He was desperate to conceal his months-long grooming of the teenager, which led to her disappearance and presumed death earlier this year.
When he didn’t appear in court, a warrant was issued for Joel’s arrest. However, after transferring money to Lauren and his ex-wife Emily, and leaving an emotional voicemail for his former fiancee Dee-Dee Bailey, Joel’s car was found abandoned, leading many to believe he may have committed suicide.

Dee-Dee, however, did not accept this theory and urged DS Lisa Swain and Kit Green to continue their investigation. After Lisa was removed from the case due to Joel’s involvement with her teenage daughter Betsy, Kit has found himself heading a murder inquiry, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Joel’s body was discovered in a river, with it later being confirmed that he had been killed with a heavy weapon prior to entering the water. Corrie viewers have seen several characters, including Dee-Dee, her father Ed and uncle Ronnie, as well as DS Lisa Swain, whose daughter Betsy was involved with Joel, implicated in the crime.
Mason Radcliffe and Carla Connor are also under suspicion. The lead investigator on the case, Kit, has recently been hinted at as potentially having a role in Joel’s death. This comes after he aroused suspicion by removing his own details from a list of potential suspects.

This occurred after Swain suggested a red car might be linked to Joel’s murder. In Monday night’s episode (November 4), a flashback showed Kit confronting an injured Joel by the roadside, where Joel indicated he knew Kit had planted evidence on Nathan Curtis while Lauren was missing.
However, some Corrie fans believe that none of the current suspects will be revealed as the murderer, following confirmation that the truth will be revealed in next week’s episodes.
One social media user speculated: “Michael I’m thinking, was the first person to not trust Joel.” Another responded: “I have a strong feeling it’s him.”
Yet, others find it odd that another name hasn’t yet been added to the suspect list. A third person commented: “I find it crazy that lauren hasn’t been a suspect yet especially with her past history with Joel #Corrie.”
