Coronation Street has aired an unexpected proposal, in the show’s latest episode.
This week, Gail Rodwell was rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack, and the Platts were told that she would have to have an operation to get a stent inserted.
In the latest episode, the family waited for news and were eventually told that the operation had gone well, and Gail would be discharged in the next couple of days.
Shona asked David about the progress of the house sale, and Jesse became suspicious about how he had managed to get the bank to back him.
David visited his mum when she woke up, and in an emotional chat, he apologised for causing so much stress over the house and she reassured him that he wasn’t responsible for her medical scare.
He returned to the house to check on the bag of Damon’s money and he discovered it was gone – and Jesse confronted him about it, having realised he is the culprit.
Jesse was furious that David had let him be blamed for stealing the money. David pleaded with him not to tell Gail, reminding him that he had the power to influence Sarah and Nick’s opinion of him.
Back at the hospital, while Gail was drowsy from the painkillers, she told Jesse that her happiest memories from her life are with him in Thailand, and she asked him to marry her. Jesse wanted to have this conversation when her medication had worn off, and Gail was left disappointed.
Elsewhere, Damon informed Sarah that Harvey thinks one of his associates stole the money, meaning she was out of danger, and Sarah told Jesse the good news.
David prepared to return Damon’s money but ended up deciding to keep it at the last minute. Jesse vowed to help him with his problem, promising to keep the secret from the rest of the family.
Later, Gail assured Jesse that she meant every word of their earlier conversation. Jesse seemed unsure but told her he loved her and accepted her proposal.
