Loved up Coronation Street couple reunite after years – but one is lying
Coronation Street’s Gail Platt (Helen Worth) has been hiding a big secret over the past few years, which was finally exposed with the arrival of Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) earlier this week.
As Jesse pulled up on the cobbles, he revealed to ex-girlfriend Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) that he and Gail had had a holiday romance after reconnecting in Thailand in 2021.
When Gail’s family heard about Jesse’s sudden arrival, they were quick to grill him about his intentions.
During a chat in the cafe in tonight’s episode, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) was suspicious of the job that had suddenly brought Jesse back to Weatherfield.
Jesse assured her it was legit, and it soon turned out that it wasn’t actually Jesse who had been lying all this time.
As David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) pointed out that the radio silence that had prompted Jesse to come and check on Gail might have been a hint that she wanted nothing to do with him, Jesse was forced to reveal that Gail hadn’t been entirely honest, and that they had been seeing each other since returning from Thailand.
The Platts appeared totally confused, given that Gail barely leaves the house, which left Jesse with no choice but to admit that she had faked going to life drawing classes in order to meet up with him.
Later, Jesse sat down with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and admitted that he believed he was truly in love with Gail, but couldn’t be sure if she felt the same.
Steve encouraged him to ask Gail if his feelings were reciprocated, and the pair shared an honest chat about where they stood.
That night, it became clear that Gail felt the same, as she took Jesse home for dinner with the family and made it clear they would be spending more time together.
Sarah was quick to warn Gail to watch out for Eileen, but Gail assured her that she could deal with her nemesis herself. Are we set to see another war between Gail and Eileen?
