Carla Connor lies as she hides true devastation over gutting news in Coronation Street
Carla Connor (Alison King) received some devastating news in tonight in Coronation Street when her divorce papers arrived.
Carla was in a bad mood all day, much to the concern of Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), who was determined to get to the bottom of her sudden change in attitude.
In the cafe, he confided in DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) that he believed Carla was stressed about her upcoming plea hearing, after being charged with ABH for knocking a young lad off his bike.
However, Lisa later told Ryan that she didn’t think it was just the plea hearing that was on Carla’s mind, so Ryan wasted no time in investigating.
Back at the flat, Ryan opened up an official-looking letter that had been delivered for Carla that morning, and found her divorce papers inside.
When he later presented them to Carla, she was horrified that he had opened her letter, but lied that she was celebrating as she cracked open a bottle of red.
Though she tried to change the subject, Ryan pushed as he suggested that she must have been expecting the news, and Carla admitted that she was, but seeing it in black and white still came as a shock.
Viewers will know that Carla and Peter have a very long and complicated history.
The pair first got together in 2011 and have been married twice. Their first marriage ended after Peter’s affair with Tina McIntyre in 2014, but they found their way back together five years later.
Their second marriage came to an end last December, when Peter left Weatherfield for a new job on a boat.
However, Carla may soon be set to put her divorce behind her entirely, as she shares a confusing moment with Lisa in upcoming scenes.
The pair are set to share a charged moment which leaves Carla questioning her feelings.
Is she set to leave Peter in the past and move on with someone else?
