This Morning’s soap guru Sharon Marshall has revealed a former colleague has bagged a role on Coronation Street.

Chatting about the latest soap scoops, Sharon couldn’t wait to spill the beans on her old colleague’s new job. Before diving into the drama set to unfold in Weatherfield, Sharon announced: “Can I just say? Well done to our former This Morning director – the voice in our ear – who was on Corrie on Monday! He was playing a legal expert and will be coming back by the end of the month.”

Co-host Ben also added about his work with Nick: “He directed me on Tipping Point too. Honestly, having him in your ear, as you all know, is like having a character from Coronation Street in your ear. Just fabulous!”

Ex-director, Nick Harris, is now gracing the cobbles as Mal Walcott, Joel’s old boss, in a plotline that sees Joel desperately try to dodge facing justice for his violent attack on Lauren Bolton.

With DS Swain already onto Joel’s secrets and Dee-Dee Bailey, his former flame, hot on his heels, it’s only a matter of time before his dark secrets come to light,” reports the Mirror.

Vicky Myers – who plays DS Swain – recently opened up about the storyline, and is hopeful she can help bring him down. She said: “He’s done it so cleverly and deviously that he’s duped so many people. He is in a position of trust, and he’s massively abused that trust. I think there is that female empowerment and they shall rise up to bring him down… I hope that’s what happens.

“I think it’s important to have every woman he’s wronged, cos there’s a whole host of women along the line. There’s [that] female empowerment and that is the embodiment of this show, strong female characters.

“So I feel like he has been ruling the roost for a bit too long. It would be brilliant for each of them to have their day individually or collectively.”
