Coronation Street double exit ‘sealed’ after soap’s ‘most talked about storyline’
Coronation Street kicked off its controversial cult storyline this year - but fans reckon a double exit is in store for two of its members.
Coronation Street fans have predicted that a double exit is on the cards for two characters.
Earlier this year, viewers were introduced to the mysterious “self-improvement group” The Institute. The cult, led by Rowan Cunliffe (played by Emhrys Cooper) caught the eye of cobbles resident Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
And it didn’t take long for her to join – much to the concern of fiancee Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and sister Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor), who have all shared their concerns over Leanne.
What’s more, in recent weeks Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) has also shown an interest in the group – much to the horror of Nick and Toyah. After attending a retreat last month, Amy told Leanne that she’s looking to invest some of the inheritance money she got from grandma Deirdre – leaving Leanne and Rowan delighted.
Rowan then sweet-talked Amy and persuaded her to put her £40,000 inheritance money towards the organisation.
This week, Amy asked grandfather Ken (William Roache) to see if he would release the funds left for her by her late grandmother Deirdre. Ken was hesitant at first – but later changed his tune.
However, in Wednesday’s episode (August 28) things took a dramatic turn when Amy attended a “malware session” at the cult. In harrowing scenes, members shouted abuse at a blindfolded Amy – who ended up running out distraught.
She later changed her mind about investing- but was left shaken when Ken told her he had already sent the money across. Things went from bad to worse when a disgusted Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) turned to the police for help.
Now, viewers are certain that a prison exit is on the cards for both Leanne and Rowan.
