Celebs Go Dating star reveals real reason for joining show – and it wasn’t to find love
Singer and Hollyoaks actress Jamelia has opened up about her reasons for taking part on Celebs Go Dating
Fans are lapping up the current series of Celebs Go Dating as six famous faces attempt to find love with the help of the dating coaches.
One of the celebrities taking part is singer and Hollyoaks actress Jamelia and now the star has explained why she decided to join the dating programme.
Opening up about her reasons for signing on the dotted line, the mum-of-four told new! magazine: “I wasn’t [looking for The One]. I was looking for advice and guidance. It was the therapy side I was more interested in.
“When I first joined the show I was convinced I didn’t want a relationship, but now I do want one because I know myself and what I want so much better.
“I want it all now! I gained so much more than I thought I would.”
Jamelia went on to explain that she loved the idea of getting free love advice from the coaches, Paul Brunson, Anna Williamson and Dr Tara.
She expressed: “I was drawn to the fact that it was free therapy and you get to have dates hand-picked for you, so I don’t have to do the graft. I don’t have to go to clubs or swipe right.
“To be honest, it was the right time in my life. I’ve been single for two-and-a-half years and I was ready to date and this came along so I was like, ‘Yeah, actually, I do want to do that.’ ”
Aside from Jamelia, the other stars looking for love are Gogglebox’s Stephen Webb, Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan and MAFS icon Ella Morgan.
Also joining the agency are Made in Chelsea’s Tristan Phipps, Love Island’s Chris Taylor and Lauryn Goodman will be joining at a later date.
The singer has been going on plenty of dates on the show
The Superstar crooner has been on three dates on the show so far, but none of them have tickled her fancy.
During a heart-to-heart with Dr Tara and Anna, Jamelia opened up about her previous relationships and revealed she was abused by her first partner.
Jamelia added that she thought she would be judged for having children with different dads in a heartfelt and raw moment.
However, the coaches were quick to reassure her and commend her for opening up about her previous struggles.
