Coronation Street Gail’s tragic new exit storyline ‘exposed’ as Martin Platt actor quits
Coronation Street fans have claimed they have "worked out" Gail Platt's exit storyline after it was confirmed that Sean Wilson has quit the soap.
Coronation Street fans have “rumbled” Gail Platt’s altered exit storyline following the announcement that Martin Platt actor Sean Wilson won’t be returning.
Last month, a buzz was created with the news that Martin Platt (played by Sean Wilson) would reappear on the street for Gail Platt’s (acted by Helen Worth) farewell plotline as she departs after an iconic 50 years.
Martin, once Gail’s husband, featured on the show from 1985 to 2005 and was last seen in Weatherfield six years ago. But recent revelations indicate Sean has unexpectedly left the soap, causing turmoil with his filmed scenes now pulled from airing.
With Coronation Street chiefs allegedly in overdrive to revise Helen’s exit script set for this October, a spokesperson for the show clarified to The Mirror: “Sean Wilson has stepped down from filming for personal reasons.”
Yet, this sudden turn of events has sparked dread among fans who speculate that Gail’s leaving story could now be rewritten with a devastating outcome.
Adding fuel to the speculation, social media is abuzz with fan theories anticipating how Gail might bow out, with some fearing the worst – her character meeting a grim fate, reports the Liverpool Echo.
One concerned viewer expressed online: “Dear #Corrie producers…. whatever you do, DO NOT kill off Gail Platt.” (sic)
Another apprehensive fan speculated: “Omg… sounds like maybe Helen has gone to the bosses and said that she doesn’t want to leave this way anymore and now this scares me she’s decided she wants Gail to be killed off instead. I’m actually scared.” (sic)
One concerned viewer exclaimed: “Gail best not be getting killed off.” While another echoed the sentiment, writing: “I swear if Gail gets killed off.”
Meanwhile, on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, a fan speculated: “So Gail won’t be riding off into the sunset with Martin he’s stepped down for personal reasons so stopped filming how do we think Gail will leave.”
In the comments, one person pessimistically noted: “You can bet it won’t be a happy ending.” Another added their fears: “I just pray she doesn’t die but knowing Corrie she probably will!”
