Coronation Street Icon Takes On ‘Powerful’ New Role: A Game-Changer for the Soap Star
Former Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson has confirmed her exciting new role, years after leaving the iconic cobbles.
The actress, known for her portrayal of Katy Harris in the ITV soap, recently shared a series of behind-the-scenes snapshots from her latest project.
Captioning the post, she wrote: “Behind the Scenes of ‘That Girl’ – a short film 🎬 directed by the incredibly talented @davidcrowley. It’s based on a true story about a teenage girl growing up with the struggles of having a parent in and out of prison.”
Lucy-Jo described the film as “incredibly powerful” and promised to keep her followers updated on its release date.
The actress recently departed from Hollyoaks after a significant run as Donna-Marie Quinn, a character she played since her debut in 2018. When asked about a possible return to Hollyoaks, Lucy-Jo teased fans, saying: “Never say never!”
Her diverse career has also seen her star in ITV’s Sunday night drama Wild at Heart for six series and make a guest appearance in Casualty. In 2016, she took on a recurring role as Rhiannon Davis in Doctors for two months, proving herself a true queen of continuing dramas.
Last October, it was announced that Doctors would end after an impressive 24-year run, following budget cuts across the network. On the final day of filming (March 1st), fans were asked to stay clear of the production base in Selly Oak, Birmingham.
Recently, Lucy-Jo took to Instagram to share a belated tribute to the show, expressing how it had “pushed [her] out of [her] comfort zone.” The post featured a compilation of clips from her time on the show and was shared with her 203,000 followers. She concluded with a heartfelt message, saying, “From the bottom of my heart, I’m so sorry to hear that this wonderful soap will be ending this year after 24 years.”
