Kyle Richards Gives Surprising Update on Her Status With Mauricio Umansky
Kyle Richards said she still has not spoken to Mauricio Umansky about the possibility of getting a divorce despite announcing their separation in July 2023.
During a December 17, 2024 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star told host Andy Cohen she has no plans to seek a divorce at this time despite her co-star Sutton Stracke’s suggestion that she should file.
“Well, you know that’s not something that we have talked about yet,” Richards said of her and Umansky. “And the reason I didn’t, you know, talk about that on camera is because that’s obviously something I would have to talk about with him first and it just hasn’t come up yet.”
After a stunned Cohen questioned, “It hasn’t come up?,” Richards explained.
“We’re, you know, we’re good friends and we get along really well and I don’t know,” she said. “We just live separate lives and it just hasn’t come up yet. And, you know, when the time comes obviously we will. You know it’s hard and it’s not something either one of us obviously feel comfortable initiating and we just kind of let it go. We’re just really good friends and we care about each other, and we get along so it’s like well you know it is what it is right now.”
Richards and Umansky have been married for nearly 29 years.
In a conversation that aired on RHOBH season 14, Stracke advised Richards, “I’m gonna be real honest with you. I think that you need to file.” She explained that Richards needed to protect her own assets. “If you go on to do something from the date of filing, that’s yours,” Stracke said, per People.
In a confessional, she added, “Kyle needs to get a grip and go talk to an attorney. Quickly! Run, don’t walk.”
But Richards assured her co-star that things were amicable between her and Umansky and that all of their money would be split down the middle should they ever decide to legally end their marriage.
Kyle Richards Was Surprised When Mauricio Bought Furniture for His New Place

Richards and Umansky continued to live together for months after confirming their separation. The Agency founder finally moved out of the couple’s Encino mansion and into a West Hollywood condo just before filming for RHOBH season 14 took place.
In a confessional scene posted by Bravo, Richards shared that Umansky made the decision to sign a six-month lease for a condo. “I think for Mo saying to give it six months made it easy to transition from living here to going to a new place,” she explained. “It also gives us the time to assess where we’re at. You live your life, I live my life, and maybe we’ll reconvene in six months or so and see what happens. I don’t know.”
But she admitted she was taken aback when she found out that Umansky purchased new furniture for his bachelor pad. “Because he’s in real estate, you can have places staged. I assumed he’d have it staged, or he’d find someplace that already had furniture. … But he decided to buy the furniture, which of course, is more permanent,” she added. “So, then I thought, oh, well, this does not seem very temporary.”
In the confessional, a producer asked Richards if she had any hopes for a reconciliation with Umansky. “I don’t want to answer that question right now,” she replied.
Kyle Richards Speaks to Mauricio Regularly But Has Not Seen His New Place
During her WWHL appearance, Richards reiterated that she is in constant contact with Umansky through text and phone calls. “Right now, pretty much every couple days type of thing,” she said of how often she texts with Umansky.
When asked how often she speaks to him, Umansky replied, “Maybe a couple times a week.”
Richards also claimed she would “love” to see Umansky’s new apartment but hasn’t yet. “It just hasn’t worked out because my schedule and traveling and his schedule,” she explained.
On her Amazon Live on December 16, Richards confirmed she would be spending time in Aspen with Umansky and their daughters over the holidays.
