‘Home and Away’ Legend Lynne McGranger Bids Farewell After 33 Years – Inside Her Family Life and 40-Year Love Story That Leaves Fans in Awe
After 33 years on the beloved Australian drama, Home and Away, Lynne McGranger has amassed a lot of fans. But the actress’ biggest supporters remain her family.
The Gold Logie winner will bid a final and emotional farewell to her character, Irene Roberts in 2025.
But the 72-year-old’s career isn’t coming to an end! Lynne is returning to her musical roots in The Grandparents Club which will travel the country.
While Lynne is incredibly proud of her career, frequently sharing behind-the-scenes moments from Home and Away, she is just as proud of her family.

Who is Lynne McGranger’s husband?
Lynne met her soulmate Paul McWaters in 1984 – however, the pair are not married.
According to a 2014 New Idea interview with the Home and Away actress, Lynne invited Paul to her place after having dinner together “and he never went home.”
Despite the lack of marital status, they have remained committed together since that night.
“Happy anniversary to my partner in crime! 36 years!! Where the hell did that go. Thanks for the laughs baby. Love you,” Lynne shared on Instagram.
With more than 40 years under their belt, the pair naturally have passed some major milestones together including welcoming their daughter, Clancy.
Who is Lynne McGranger’s daughter?
Lynne revealed to the Australian Women’s Weekly that six years into dating, it was Paul who “got clucky.”
In 1991, Lynne and Paul’s family expanded with the arrival of their only child, daughter Clancy McWaters.
Lynne’s stint on Home and Away was only supposed to last three months, not knowing she would later stay for 33 years. But given her budding career, Paul became a stay-at-home dad.
“He would do the reading. Take her to ballet, to netball. He loved it,” she revealed.
Clancy, 34, is a pilates and yoga instructor living in Sydney and is also well trained in dance.
“She is a triple threat, she sings, dances and acts, at the moment she seems to be leaning toward more singing and dancing,” Lynne proudly said of her daughter to the Sydney Confidential in 2015.
While she hasn’t followed in her mother’s footsteps, she did have a role as an extra on Home and Away.
In 2023, Clancy walked down the aisle, marrying her soulmate Luke Dickson. In our exclusive interview with Clancy, she revealed just how “cool” it was to have two parents going against traditional gender roles.
“Mum and Dad – they’re not married – were quite different to other families. Mum was the main breadwinner and it’s been cool because I’ve been raised with the belief that it doesn’t have to be that way where the woman stays at home and men go to work. I’ve got two awesome role models,” Clancy said.
