Home and Away is leaving Summer Bay behind for the first time in 36 years.
The Australian soap opera has been filming at Palm Beach, in Sydney‘s Northern Beaches, since its inception in 1988.
But now the show is heading west – to Western Australia, to be precise.
However, the move is not a permanent one, with what Channel Seven calls a ‘high-stakes storyline’ set to take place in the region.
The episodes will be, filmed against the stunning natural beauty of Western Australia, the network revealed on Monday.

In partnership with Tourism Western Australia, this special Home and Away event will see the show trade the familiar sands of Summer Bay for the vast and varied landscapes of WA – from cosmopolitan Perth to its rugged coastline and expansive red outback.
Filming will take place in October at several locations across the state.
While storyline and casting details are being kept tightly under wraps, producers promise that Western Australia will take centre stage.
‘Our cast and crew are beyond excited to be filming in Western Australia – a first for Home and Away,’ Home and Away Series Producer, Lucy Addario, said.
‘Its awe-inspiring beauty, diverse landscapes and sheer scale make it the perfect backdrop for this huge storyline.
‘Working with the Tourism Western Australia team has been an absolute joy and we can’t wait for audiences to fall in love with WA like we have.’
The special Home and Away event will premiere in 2026 on Seven and 7plus.
It comes after it was revealed that Home and Away is losing yet another beloved character, leading fans to wonder whether it may be the next soapie to leave screens.

After news broke that Juliet Godwin is saying goodbye to the beloved Aussie series, rumours are circulating that another cast member is eyeing the door.
According to reports, Matt Evans, who plays Theo Poulos in the series, is set to leave Summer Bay.
Matt, 28, has been a regular feature on the show for three and a half years.
The news of Matt’s potential exit from the show points to a larger problem in the soapie sphere: could Home and Away be the next TV series to get the axe?
Neighbours made headlines in February after it was revealed the show would be leaving screens a second time around, less than two years after it was first revived.
The final ever episode will air at the end of 2025, with fans forced to say goodbye to Ramsay Street.
