Home and Away star Lynne McGranger hospitalised for surgery on toxic overactive thyroid

The beloved Australian actress said her condition had left her ‘exhausted’.

Beloved Home and Away star Lynne McGranger has shared a significant health update on social media, telling fans it was “a long time coming”.

Less than a week ago, McGranger underwent surgery to address a “toxic overactive thyroid” — a condition she described as “incompatible” with her health and wellbeing.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the 71-year-old McGranger expressed her relief and gratitude following the procedure.

“It was a long time coming — we were incompatible and quite frankly I was exhausted,” she wrote on Monday.

The actress praised the Mater Hospital North Sydney team for their pivotal roles in her successful surgery and recovery.

“I want to thank all the amazing people at the Mater Hospital North Sydney for making this giant life step so much easier than it might have been,” she said.

McGranger specifically mentioned the dedication of various staff members, including nurses, doctors, specialists, and administrative personnel, who provided exceptional care.

“With special mention to Prof Sidhu, Dr Michael Morris, Annie, Anna, Karen, and Kenny (sorry about the vom),” she added.

“Could not recommend The Mater more highly—what an exceptional example of health care done right!”

The actress also shared a lighter note about her recovery, reassuring fans she was healing well and humorously noting she did not miss her “dirty thyroid” at all.

“Stay tuned for scar spam,” she teased.
