Kit Green (played by Jacob Roberts) ends up in hospital fighting for his life following an altercation with Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) in next week’s Coronation Street. Mick has been in prison since May after he killed Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) in a savage attack. However, he manages to escape in upcoming scenes and takes revenge on Kit. The convict is being helped on the outside by Brody (Ryan Mulvey), who was recently revealed to be Kit’s biological son.

After learning that his family is falling apart, a desperate Mick demands Brody Joanie (Savanna Pennington) and Shanice (Molly Kilduff) so they can flee Weatherfield together. When it looks as though the plan is set in motion, Brody faces a setback after learning that Joanie has been taken to a taster day at Weatherfield High by Sally (Sally Dynevor).

After Brody masks his panic and calls Mick, he escalates his efforts and successfully escapes prison. Back at the school, Joanie is teased by the other pupils about her parents and is taken home by Sally.

Shortly after, Daniel (Rob Mallard) and Mrs Crawshaw (Carla Mendonça) are stunned when Mick turns up at the school, telling them he wants Joanie.

When Mrs Crawshaw explains that Sally picked Joanie up, Mick locks them in the office and does a runner. A furious Mick then heads to the street to find his daughters, closely followed by Kit who has been made aware of the situation unfolding.

Mick makes his way to Underworld before a dramatic confrontation ensues with Mick, leaving the police officer seriously injured and needing surgery.

Following the life-saving operation, Sarah (Tina O’Brien) and Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) sit at his bedside, praying he will pull through.

Opening up about Brody’s decision to help his fugitive father, actor Ryan Mulvey said: “Brody is desperate to keep his family together. He feels it’s his duty as a brother, and as a man. Brody has morals and knows what Mick has planned is wrong, but he’ll do what it takes to keep his loved ones close…”

Ryan, who previously played JJ Osborne in Hollyoaks, continued: “Brody idolises Mick and doesn’t want to disappoint him.

“He can’t comprehend he might not be his biological dad. It feels like Brody’s life has been shattered and he’s not dealing with it very well.

The soap star added: “Helping Mick get away could get Brody back in the STC, but his behaviour is more impulsive since this bombshell about Kit was dropped on him.”

After the attack, Mick and Brody both vanish. Has Mick successfully fled Weatherfield with his family?
