Coronation Street Star Shares Heartwarming Photo with Co-Star Set to Exit After 6 Years

Paul, Billy and Todd realise Summer and Felix have walked into the flat in Corrie

Daniel Brocklebank, known for his role as vicar Billy Mayhew on Coronation Street, has shared a heartfelt photo with his co-stars, including one who is set to depart from the ITV soap after six years. In the show, Daniel plays Billy, who is devotedly caring for his husband Paul Foreman, portrayed by Peter Ash, who suffers from motor neurone disease. Billy and Paul are also the adoptive parents of Summer Spellman, played by Harriet Bibby.

A recent special episode of the ITV soap focused entirely on their poignant storyline. After Paul learned it was no longer safe to use the stairlift in their flat, Billy offered him one final day to do whatever he wished before being confined to their home. The episode highlighted an emotional moment when Paul, struggling to speak, was comforted by Billy. However, a misunderstanding occurred when Billy thought Paul needed help using the bathroom, while Paul had actually been trying to express his love.

The episode also featured a deeply moving scene where Paul, in a vulnerable moment, revealed he no longer wanted to end his life. He expressed a desire to live for as long as possible, accepting whatever comes.

Given the emotional weight of their storyline, the cast finds comfort in positive distractions. Recently, Daniel posted a warm photo on Instagram, hugging Harriet and Peter, after spending some quality time away from the set. The trio is all smiles in the picture, reflecting their strong bond. Daniel captioned the post: “These guys!! ❤️ It’s a daily pleasure. Genuinely.”

When asked how he unwinds after intense filming days, Daniel explained, “It’s all-consuming. You’re either at home learning lines or filming. There’s little downtime, but I have my three little dogs to walk and keep me active. I love being outdoors, gardening, and growing my own vegetables. I also enjoy getting away in my camper van when the weather’s good. Being in nature is incredibly recharging for me. And of course, a glass of wine helps too!”
