Coronation Street: Child’s Secret Use of Birth Control Pill Exposed
A troubling storyline begins next week on Coronation Street as teenager Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) visits the doctor to discuss starting birth control.
Hope, who is around 13 or 14 years old, has already faced significant challenges in her young life. In her earlier years, she caused considerable stress for her parents, Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Tyrone (Alan Halsall), with her dangerous behavior, such as setting fires and kidnapping young Joseph (William Flanagan).
When Hope began attending Weatherfield High School, she encountered a new set of problems, including being bullied by a group of girls. Staying true to her rebellious nature, Hope once threatened a young girl with a hammer, echoing the violent tendencies of her biological father, John Stape.
Hope’s relationship drama has been equally tumultuous. She declared herself as Sam’s (Jude Riordan) girlfriend but became increasingly jealous when Stu’s (Bill Fellows) granddaughter Eliza (Savannah Kunyo) started spending time with Sam. Hope’s jealousy led her to sabotage Eliza’s birthday party, which caused a temporary split between her and Sam. Although they later reconciled, Hope’s interest soon shifted to Kevin’s (Michael Le Vell) son, Jack (Kyran Bowes), leading to another breakup with Sam.
In the upcoming week, Hope secretly visits Doctor Gaddas and requests to go on the pill. Doctor Gaddas expresses concern, provides Hope with condoms, discusses sexual health, and advises her to talk to her family about her decision.
The big question remains: Will Hope follow through with this advice, and is there something more troubling behind her request?
