Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) returned to Coronation Street a few weeks ago hiding an utterly devastating secret.
The beloved character had been diagnosed with stage four cancer and didn’t want to tell any of her loved ones. Eventually though, Todd and Eileen Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce and Sue Cleaver) learnt about Julie’s secret and vowed to help her live life to the full, while she had the time.
Amid the drama that comes with living in Weatherfield, Julie really has enjoyed everyday with her family. Next week though, Eileen makes a heartbreaking discovery and learns her sister has died.
The week begins with Julie videoing herself on her phone, talking about the importance of love. The speech is potentially overheard by George (Tony Maudsley), as he later decides to plan a romantic evening for him and Eileen.
Unfortunately, she reacts badly. Eileen reminds George that he was supposed to be taking her and Julie for a day out at the lake, and now they have to take a cab.
With George left behind, Eileen and Julie enjoy the view at the lake and Julie admits there’s nowhere else she’d rather be.
Back at Number 11, George stumbles across a video where Julie advises Eileen to split up with him. Left at home in a panic, George remains unaware of what’s happening at the lake.
At Julie’s request, Eileen heads to find a the refreshment van but when she returns, she finds her sister lying on her back with her eyes closed. Eileen checks for a pulse – Julie has died.
In the week, tensions are running high as Eileen mulls over Julie’s death. Unfortunately, matters are made worse by George, who is busy fretting over Julie’s final message to her sibling.
Worried about the future of their relationship, George tries to open up to Eileen, but she gets annoyed.
