A former Coronation Street star left fans shocked when she appeared in the very raunchy opening scenes of an ITV drama

Coronation Street legend Katherine Kelly previously revealed she wasn’t embarrassed by the raunchy scenes in a ITV drama.
Katherine shot to fame on the soap as Becky McDonald – making her debut way back in 2006. And it didn’t take her long to become a firm favourite with fans as well as play a part in several big storylines.
However, in 2011, Katherine quit the soap with Becky’s exit airing on screen the following year. Since her departure, the actress been involved in numerous projects, including the recent crime drama Protection.
In 2019, she took on a leading role in ITV’s psychological thriller Cheat, playing Dr Leah Dale. The series explored the complex relationship between Leah and her student Rose Vaughan (Molly Windsor).

However, it was one scene in particular that left viewers surprised – Katherine’s character indulging in some self-pleasure in a university bathroom.
Despite the risqué nature of the scene, Katherine expressed no embarrassment, stating: “It really takes a lot for me to be embarrassed.”

She further explained to The Sun: “I have done sex scenes a lot before, I had my fair share of them in Mr Selfridge. I have had two children and after childbirth, you are not embarrassed by anything.”
Katherine elaborated on one particularly audacious scene, commenting: “You only get embarrassed when it doesn’t feel right, but I thought, reading the script, well women masturbate as much as men right!”
She then described how this moment provided an outlet for her character’s suppressed “frustrations” regarding her marriage, reports the Daily Star.

The daring sequence certainly set tongues wagging. In fact, there were claims that the masturbation segment led to a startling 500,000 viewers turning off their televisions, according to a report from The Sun.
Back when the titillating drama was unfolding, audience members didn’t hold back on X, previously known as Twitter.
One viewer remarked: “Christ, she’s had more sex in five minutes than I’ve had in three years.” Another pondered: “Watching Cheat on ITV and a few minutes in there are two sex scenes… where do I look?” And a third was blunt: “Start off with a bang, eh!””
