Another Coronation Street exit as star quits after five years

Coronation Street star Adam Hussain has left his role as Aadi Alahan in the ITV soap.
Adam first appeared in the show in 2020, taking over the role from previous young actor Zennon Ditchett, who played the character for ten years.
Taking to Instagram, Adam announced his departure with a sweet post.
‘I guess the secrets out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures,’ the actor penned, alongside a recent photo of the full Corrie cast.
‘Over the 5 years I’ve spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!
‘This isn’t a farewell for Aadi however, more like a see you later!
‘I’m excited to see what the future brings! Thank you Coronation Street for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time!’
Metro understands that Aadi will be on screen until the end of summer.
Aadi was first introduced in 2006, and has had some major storylines since Adam took over the role, including romances with Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney).
While protecting fiancée Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) from her kidnappers, he was shot. This came just months after he survived a car explosion, where father Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) chose to save sister Asha (Tanisha Gorey) instead.
Luckily, all three survived.

More recently he developed a relationship with older woman Courtney Vance (Stephanie Davis), who was married to a business associate of Dev. Shortly after the affair was exposed, she left him for her husband.
In 2023, Adam faced backlash and issued an apology when soap fans discovered he had liked a number of tweets from controversial influencer Andrew Tate.
He shared his remorse, saying he was ‘sorry for offence caused’.

In a statement, he said: ’I’m really sorry if my “liking” of these tweets has caused any offence to our viewers and my colleagues.
’I wasn’t aware of Andrew Tate and his background and I would never endorse those views.
‘I liked some of his tweets in the moment with no reference to his back story. I will be more careful in future.’
Away from the street, he hosts podcast Going for a Take with actor Ben Stevenson-Langley and Waterloo Road’s Matthew Khan. The three talk about the latest film releases with other members of the entertainment industry.

Adam is one of a number of Coronation Street stars to have announced their departure since the beginning of the year.
Actors Luca Toolan and Paddy Bever have already left their roles as Mason Radcliffe and Max Turner respectively, while Bethany Platt actress Lucy Fallon has headed off on maternity leave.
In the coming months, viewers can also expect exits from Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh), Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) and Craig Tinker (Colson Smith).
