Ruxandra Porojnicu, who plays Alina, shared some insights with Metro.co.uk: “I think Alina is curious to see Tyrone and speak with him again because he was an important person in her life. However, if it weren’t for the court trial, she probably wouldn’t have chosen to come back. Their shared trauma bonded them, and while she still has feelings for him, they’ve evolved into something different.”
In a revealing moment, Alina drops her phone, and Fiz spots a picture of her with a little boy. Alina insists it’s her nephew, but Fiz seems unconvinced.
Fiz keeps Alina’s return a secret for a few days, but later in the week, Cassie (Claire Sweeney) catches sight of the name on an airport booking and immediately recognizes it. Reflecting on the storyline, Ruxandra said, “I kind of sensed it. After playing Alina for two years, I’ve learned how things go in Coronation Street. I had a feeling she might be expecting a baby. It’s funny because just a month before, I was thinking there must be something more to this—like maybe she had a baby. I guess I kind of manifested it! I figured if she were to come back, it would be to stir the pot and cause some drama!”
