Coronation Street to ᴋɪʟʟ off a popular character this summer
It's going to be a tear-jerker.
Coronation Street fans may want to brace themselves, as the soap could soon be saying goodbye to a beloved character in a traumatic storyline.
It was previously announced that Corrie would lose one of its key stars when Celebrity Big Brother star Colson Smith shared he would be leaving the cobbles.
Now, it seems that his character, police officer Craig Tinker, won’t just up and leave Weatherfield – he will be ᴋɪʟʟed off in an upcoming story.
As it has been reported by The Sun, PC Tinker may be involved in a heroic story, which could eventually see him perish on the job this summer. No more details have been divulged on the tear-jerking subplot at this time.
Digital Spy has reached out to Coronation Street for confirmation and additional information, but they declined to comment.
In January, Smith revealed he would be exiting the soap after 14 years in the role of Craig, which he started playing when he was 13.
Earlier this month, the actor reflected on receiving his final Corrie scripts, opening up on the bittersweet feelings connected to closing a big chapter in his life.
“I think it’s that bit of, I didn’t realise how big of a deal it was, actually getting your last scripts and reading it,” he told co-stars Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price on their On The Sofa podcast.
“It’s quite a lot to process and go through, but I’m excited for the work, I’m excited to play the exit, really, I just want it to happen, in a weird way.”
