Who is the Mystery Mother of Jack Webster in Coronation Street?
Jack Webster (Kyran Bowes) has found himself in hot water in recent “Coronation Street” scenes after admitting to starting a fire in Stefan Brent’s office.
When his step-mum Abi Webster (Sally Carman) began to suspect his involvement, dad Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) did everything he could to keep Jack off DS Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) radar.
However, Jack ultimately turned himself in and will face questioning from the detective in upcoming episodes.
Born in 2010, Jack has been involved in several major storylines, from the truth about his paternity to becoming an amputee after losing his leg to sepsis. His family life has been tumultuous, particularly following the loss of his mother—but who was she?
Who was Jack Webster’s mum?
Jack Webster is the son of Molly Dobbs.
When Jack was born in 2010, Molly was married to Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), and for the first few months of Jack’s life, Tyrone believed he was the father. However, it was soon revealed that Molly had been having an affair with Tyrone’s best friend, Kevin. At Jack’s christening, Kevin secretly took a DNA sample from Jack’s dummy and confirmed that Jack was his son.
Molly was devastated when she found out Kevin had done the test without her knowledge. Later, encouraged by the late Jack Duckworth, she considered either moving away with Tyrone or leaving him if she didn’t truly love him.
When Molly decided to leave Tyrone, he refused to let her take Jack, prompting her to reveal that Jack wasn’t his son. Tragically, just hours later, Molly was caught in the infamous Corrie tram crash and was trapped in the Corner Shop.
With Sally Webster (Sally Dynevor) by her side, Molly confessed that Kevin was actually Jack’s father, before tragically dying from her injuries.
Who played Molly Dobbs?
Molly Dobbs was played by actress Vicky Binns.
She first appeared in the role in 2005 and spent five years on the cobbles until Molly’s death in 2010, during the 50th anniversary live episode. Vicky also appeared in “Emmerdale” as Ollie Reynolds from 1999 to 2003.
Since leaving “Coronation Street,” she has also starred in “Casualty,” “Doctors,” and an episode of “Black Mirror.” During lockdown, she turned her hand to teaching when theatres were forced to close.
