Julie Carp’s return to Coronation Street on Wednesday night left fans convinced something wasn’t quite right.
Her behaviour in a cryptic scene left fans sure she could be hiding something, amid spoilers hinting she is keeping a secret from her loved ones. Eileen Grimshaw’s sister was announced to be returning weeks ago, with it said to be tied into Eileen’s looming exit.
Actress Sue Cleaver has quit the role after more than two decades on the show, while her departure remains to be revealed. Julie’s return seems to tie in with Eileen leaving Weatherfield, while in the latest episode something was amiss.
She bumped into her nephew Todd Grimshaw at the hotel near the street, and was thrilled to see him after so long. There she met Eileen’s new flame George Shuttleworth, and the trio had drinks.
After Todd left, Eileen seemed awkward when both he and George suggested getting Eileen to see her. Julie seemed to make up excuses about having somewhere to be, before clearly avoiding seeing Eileen when George suggested a meet-up.
She was being secretive and kept pulling faces as if she was hiding her unease. Then she was heard booking a taxi on her phone for the next morning, meaning she would leave without seeing her sister.

So where is Julie going and why is she avoiding her sister? More importantly, what has brought her back to Weatherfield if she doesn’t want to see Eileen, despite her thought to be linked to her sibling’s exit plot?
Viewers had their say online, predicting what might be going on as others pointed out she was clearly hiding something. Taking to social media, one fan posted: “Maybe she’s coming back for Brian??” meaning her ex Brian Packham who remains on the cobbles.
Another fan said: “If she’s coming back for Eileen’s exit storyline, why is she just avoiding her? There must be something she’s hiding!!” A third fan added: “It seems she’s going to disappear the next morning as ordered a taxi! Puzzled look on her face as if worried about something.”
It seems the sister will be reunited soon judging by the spoilers, and with that Julie may or may not have a confession. She’s urged to tell her sister the real reason for her being back in Weatherfield, but what exactly is it that she is hiding, and will she spill the beans to her oblivious sister next week?
