Major Coronation Street character stages return – and straight into terrifying danger
It’s been a traumatic few weeks for Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) in Coronation Street, but spoilers for forthcoming episodes have revealed her ordeal is far from over.
The aspiring journalist is caught up in a terrifying situation with a masked intruder next week after she is discharged from hospital.
Last month, Bethany was hospitalised in Turkey after undergoing a botched cosmetic procedure while on a copywriting job at a newly opened clinic.
The dodgy surgery caused considerable damage to her bowel, and as a result, she had been fitted with a permanent stoma.
To make matters worse, her insurance wouldn’t cover the dilemma, as she had failed to declare her lipo plans, leaving her stranded in Turkey.
Her mum Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) imprisoned ex Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) tried to give her the money to pay Bethany’s £25,000 medical bill, but his message was intercepted Sarah’s ex-husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).
It later turned out the stolen cash – which was left over from the heist earlier this year in a lock-up – had been stolen.
With Bethany now back in a UK hospital, Sarah has been on a panicked hunt to find the missing cash.
Next week Damon tries to send her a warning from prison, but she rejects his calls while collecting Bethany from the hospital.
Back at the flat, Sarah settles Bethany and heads out to do some shopping. But once she’s gone, Bethany hears the door open and is shocked to see it’s not her mum, but an intruder in a balaclava…
With one of Damon’s associates also on the hunt for the missing cash, is Bethany in danger?
