People often get the impression that TV actors are earning millions for every episode of a show they make, and while on some rare occasions this is the case, it is often a very different story.

Recently, actress Gabrielle Glaister gave fans an insight into how much actors really earn in an hilarious post on Twitter/X.

Gabrielle has had an extensive career, appearing in the likes of Brookside, Coronation Street, Doctors and Emmerdale.

However, it was a re-run of an episode of The Bill that brought in her latest paycheque, earning her a whopping £1.88.

The episode in question saw Gabrielle play the role of Jenny Marton – a woman who was shocked to hear that her boyfriend had been murdered.

Followers were quick to laugh along with her, with one pointing out she’ll be ‘raking it in’ when it comes to re-runs of Brookside – to which Gabrielle revealed she is set to receive £1.27 per episode, after appearing as Patricia Farnham between 1990 and 1997.

Another fan joked that it was actually actress Jane Hazlegrove who appeared in the episode, which got a laugh from Gabrielle.

Jane and Gabrielle have often been mistaken for each other – so much so that a Coronation Street story was written for them, which saw Gabrielle’s character Fern pay Bernie Winter to pretend to be her.

Speaking about the storyline at the time, Gabrielle said: ‘Jane and I have been mistaken for each other for years and years -me constantly denying that I was in Casualty, Jane insisting that she wasn’t in Brookside! Or people congratulating me on my performance in something I wasn’t in because it was Jane being brilliant.

‘A very good friend of mine texted me last week to say he caught a bit of Corrie and thought I was very good. I pointed out that I wasn’t on screen yet!

‘When they approached me with the storyline It seemed like fate! What they’ve written is so clever and I’m having a ball working with Jane.’

Gabrielle isn’t the only Corrie star to have shown the realities of an actor’s payslip, with Sharon Bentley star Tracie Bennett posting a picture of her ‘royalties’ to social media last year, revealing that she had earned 25p for a role.
