Coronation Street’s Daisy Midgeley to intervene in Daniel and Bethany drama

Will she be able to get through to her?

Daisy Midgeley will find herself meddling in Bethany Platt and Daniel Osbourne’s love lives in upcoming scenes on Coronation Street.

Bethany is at the centre of a huge storyline in the ITV soap. Feeling insecure about her appearance, she decided to travel to Turkey, where she had a liposuction procedure that went wrong.

She was left fighting for her life after developing sepsis, and complications with the procedure also mean that Bethany now must use a stoma bag for the rest of her life.

Mounting medical bills due to invalid medical insurance also left Bethany stranded in Turkey, with her boyfriend Daniel Osbourne starting a crowdfunding campaign to raise the money to pay the bills and bring her home.

However, as Daniel failed to declare that the procedure was elective, his fundraising efforts were all for nothing and the campaign was invalidated – and there’s more drama to follow.

Bethany’s mum Sarah initially blamed Daniel and his connection with ex-fianceé Daisy for her daughter’s decision to undergo the procedure and was furious with him for ignoring phone calls from a Turkish number when she was unwell.

In next Monday’s (October 14) episodes, Daniel explains to Sarah how Bethany has convinced herself that her stoma means that he won’t want to stay in a relationship with her.

Daisy sets off to the hospital to have a heart-to-heart with Bethany, after learning from Jenny Bradley that she’s decided to end her relationship with Daniel.

But will Daisy be able to get through to her – and how will Bethany feel about her decision to intervene given Daisy’s history with Daniel?

Lucy Fallon has opened up about the importance and impact of the storyline, which has seen the soap work alongside Colostomy UK.

“When I first heard about it I was pleased that they have trusted me with it because it’s an important storyline and of course, I really enjoy doing issue-based storylines,” she said.

“Obviously this is really hard-hitting, which is exciting from an actor’s point of view, but it does come with quite a lot of pressure and responsibility to get it right because this happens to real-life people.

“The storyline is also incredibly important as there’s countless horror stories out there of people talking about their experiences of cosmetic surgery abroad,” Fallon added.

“I really hope this storyline can make people rethink going abroad for cosmetic surgery.”
