Coronation Street actor Luca Toolan has opened up on a full time return to the Cobbles as bully Mason Radcliffe.

Mason was booted out of Weatherfield after he faced a custodial sentence for carrying and threatening Liam with a knife as he had been convicted of possessing a knife before. It was touch and go whether Dylan would speak out against Mason as he was also being bullied by his ‘friend’, but Dylan decided to say how he had felt and what went on, leading to Mason’s conviction.

The bully showed back up on the Cobbles earlier this week and now Luca – who plays Mason – has opened up about if he’ll be back on the soap permanently after all that went on, and how the other residents will welcome him – or not as the case may be!

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror and other press, he said: “Mason was previously quite cornered off in terms of who he’d interact with on the street – but now I’m working with everyone. A lot of them are giving me jip on the show.”

Asked if that meant he might be staying permanently, he added: “I take it day by day. For the foreseeable yes.”

Luca also opened up on how Mason has changed now he’s back – and what more we will be learn about his character. Asked if he’s a different person now, he said: “A little bit. Corrie haven’t been unrealistic; they’ve not changed me into an angel overnight.

“It’s more highlighting and playing out the story of why he is the way he is. It’s witnessing him trying to fight who he is and the instincts he’s had. It’s been really interesting to play and it’s pushing me as actor. You’re playing a three dimensional character now, it’s not just a bully. Hopefully it’ll be interesting to see that vulnerability to him.”

Luca insisted he “always knew” he was coming back – and no doubt is hoping he can continue on the Cobbles.

“I always knew I was coming back. It’s two to three months of no filming, I was gutted to find out there were no prison scenes but it’s just so good to be back. I’m loving it,” he shared of his return to the Cobbles.
