Joel star reveals hardest Coronation Street scene he had to do – and it involved TV legend
Coronation Street star Calum Lill has spoken out about the one particular Joel Deering scene that he found difficult to film.
In last week’s episodes, Joel left a dodgy voicemail begging for forgiveness from ex-fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown). As the camera panned, we could see he had a bloody injury to the side of his face.
Later, his car was found abandoned beneath a viaduct and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) broke the news that it appeared he’d taken his own life – and the search was on for his body.
Shortly prior to his disappearance, an apparent drunk Joel had accosted Roy Cropper (David Neilson) in his cafe, cornering him behind the counter and smashing his landline phone.
He soon ran off down into the Victoria Street ginnel, before checking if nobody was around. Realising he was all alone, he poured his bottle of whiskey away and walked off calmly.
Joel wasn’t drunk at all!
Taking to Instagram yesterday, Calum opened up about filming the dramatic scenes.
‘Not gonna lie, having to be mean to the nation’s sweet heart Roy Cropper was one of the hardest scenes I’ve had to act in!’ he wrote.
‘But David who plays Roy is incredible and what an honour to have gotten to work with him. #roycropperisinnocent.’
He shared a picture of them both smiling into the camera and another of himself in a ‘Roy Cropper is Innocent’ campaign t-shirt.
