Coronation Street Spoilers: Bethany’s Life-Changing News | Episodes 11,371 – 11,372 | 25 Sep 2024

The Platt family are thrown into crisis in Coronation Street next week when Bethany (Lucy Fallon) receives some life-changing health news.

As previously announced, the character is set to be at the centre of a new storyline highlighting the dangers of seeking cosmetic surgery abroad.

Viewers will see Bethany fly out to a new Turkish clinic on a press trip, where she decides to undergo liposuction.

However, her surgery is botched and she catches sepsis, before doctors are forced to fit her with a permanent stoma – but the nightmare does not end there.

The storyline unfolds in scenes to air next week, when Bethany’s boyfriend Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) breaks the news to her mum Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) that she’s in intensive care and they need to fly out to Turkey immediately.

After being warned that Bethany’s infection is severe, Daniel also informs Sarah that due to issues with travel insurance, Bethany can’t leave the country until her £25k medical bill is settled.

As the Platts wonder how they will ever afford to pay, Bethany regains consciousness and it’s up to her mum to tell her that surgeons have fitted a stoma and will need one for the rest of her life.

Meanwhile, Daniel hatches a plan to set up a crowdfunding page to help pay the bill, but Bethany’s loved ones then face further anguish when she takes a turn for the worse and Sarah finds her barely able to breathe…

When the storyline was announced last week, actress Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany, said: ‘The storyline is incredibly important as there’s countless horror stories out there of people talking about their experiences of cosmetic surgery abroad.’

Amid a 94% rise in UK patients seeking corrective treatments from botched cosmetic surgeries performed abroad rising over the last three years, Lucy added: ‘I really hope this storyline can make people rethink going abroad for cosmetic surgery.’
