Coronation Street star Sair Khan has confirmed she’s back at work after giving birth.
The actor, who plays Alya Nazir on the ITV soap, announced the birth of her baby boy in May, shortly after her temporary exit from Corrie aired as she began her break for maternity leave.
Taking to her Instagram Stories this week, Khan shared a photo of a script along with the caption “I am Backstreet”, confirming that she is now back from maternity leave and officially returned to filming.
For her temporary exit from the soap, Khan’s character Alya left Weatherfield to take a job in Dublin, though soap bosses hinted at revisiting the character’s romantic spark with Adam Barlow when she returned.
In June, Khan shared an update with fans on her parenthood journey, saying she found the first few weeks “tough but beautiful”.
“Navigating the ups and downs of the postnatal period with each day and night rolling into the next and countless challenges with latching and feeding,” she wrote on Instagram.
The soap star continued: “With feeds keeping us busy around the clock, it’s been so easy for me to stay home for days on end, working my way through every season of Suits as that’s all my brain and body can manage.
“Gentle nudges from Nathan about getting fresh air hadn’t really worked, and the idea of using a spare half hour to catch up on sleep still win every time, but ultimately the promise of cake and baby appointments have been the only way to get me out of the house lately.
“I thought I’d be back to regular life straight after birth but the reality has been very different, so just taking it step by step and trying not to feel guilty!” she concluded.
