The end ‘sealed’ for Joel Deering in Coronation Street as he’s finally taken in by the police – but a twist follows
Joel Deering (Calum Lill) was finally hauled in by police in recent Coronation Street scenes – but there’s a big twist ahead.
Solicitor Joel has been avoiding the consequences of his actions since attacking Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and leaving her for dead earlier this year.
Lauren went missing after the attack, and a full investigation was launched into her suspected murder.
Joel had groomed Lauren and left her pregnant with his child, something that was revealed after she returned to Weatherfield.
In a vile move, Joel drugged Lauren to bring on premature labour, knowing that the baby could incriminate him, though thankfully Frankie survived.
Lauren hasn’t been the only young woman targeted by Joel however, as he was previously violent towards Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) after she began blackmailing him for trying to get Sabrina Adetiba (Luana Santos) drunk.
When Betsy told mum DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) about what Joel had done, Lisa hauled him in for questioning, and though he managed to talk his way out of it, Lisa remained suspicious.
Recently, things began to fall into place for Joel’s fiancé Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown), and in tonight’s episode Lauren finally opened up to her about her ordeal at Joel’s hands.
As a result of this, Lisa arrested him. Unfortunately, this isn’t the end of her investigation.
In upcoming scenes, DI Costello informs her that there isn’t enough evidence against Joel, and she is forced to let him go.
Later, Lisa faces questions from Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) who wants to know if there’s any truth in the rumours that Joel drugged Lauren in an attempt to abort her baby.
As they talk, a guilty Betsy listens in…
When Lauren later heads off to visit Frankie, she is horrified to come face to face with Joel. Is Lauren in danger?
