Fiz Stape’s (Jennie McAlpine) world was thrown into chaos in Coronation Street recently when she came face to face with the last person she wanted to see – Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu).
When Alina was last in Weatherfield, Tyrone (Alan Halsall) shattered Fiz’s heart by leaving her to be with Alina. Before Alina returned to Romania, it was hinted that she was carrying Tyrone’s baby, a possibility that haunted Fiz long after.
Now, in a shocking twist, it’s been confirmed that Alina has given birth to Tyrone’s son, Dorin, and has returned to Manchester for a human trafficking trial. But as fate would have it, Alina’s return brought her back into Fiz’s life, reigniting old wounds that Fiz thought had long healed.
As Tyrone grapples with the reality of having a son with the woman who once tore their relationship apart, Fiz finds herself battling a surge of anxiety and doubt. Despite her efforts to move on, the return of the woman who once stole Tyrone’s heart makes Fiz question everything. Could history repeat itself?
Jennie McAlpine, who portrays Fiz, reveals: “There’s a scene where Cassie says, ‘Oh, Tyrone loves you.’ Fiz replies, ‘I know he does, and I know he wouldn’t do that to me again.’ But deep down, she’s wondering, ‘Could he? Would he?’”
The return of Alina has dragged Fiz back to a dark place, reviving feelings of betrayal and inadequacy. Just when Fiz thought her relationship with Tyrone was on solid ground, the arrival of his son with Alina threatens to unravel everything.
“It’s the worst possible scenario for Fiz,” Jennie continues. “She thought they had buried the past, but now it’s all coming back, and it’s terrifying. They were finally all together as a family, and now, suddenly, there’s this huge, painful reminder of Tyrone’s infidelity.”
After encountering Alina at Frescho’s car park, Fiz could have kept it to herself, pretending nothing had happened. But she knew that burying her head in the sand would only lead to bigger problems.
“Fiz did the right thing by telling Tyrone,” Jennie adds. “But when it’s confirmed that the baby is his, it’s like her world is turned upside down all over again. What does this mean for them as a family? Tyrone will want to be involved in his son’s life, which means Alina is back in their lives for good. It changes everything.”
