Former Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson has shared her joy with fans following the birth of her nephew, Reuben.
Lucy-Jo, 41, is best known for her role as Katy Harris in the ITV soap. Her dramatic exit storyline, where Katy murders her father, Tommy (played by Thomas Craig), before taking her own life by overdosing on sugar, recently aired in classic episodes on ITV3.
Beyond Coronation Street, Lucy-Jo has portrayed Donna-Marie Quinn in Hollyoaks for five years, and taken on roles in other popular shows like Casualty, Doctors, and the Sunday night drama Wild at Heart.
Off-screen, Lucy-Jo was married to her former Coronation Street co-star Alan Halsall, who played Tyrone Dobbs, for nine years. The couple shares a daughter, Sienna Rae. In early 2020, she welcomed her son Carter with her current partner, fellow actor Lewis Devine.
Now, the couple is celebrating the arrival of a new family member, as they have become aunt and uncle to Lewis’ sister Olivia’s son, Reuben.
Sharing a picture of herself holding baby Reuben, sitting alongside Lewis and their two children, as well as Reuben’s elder sister Esther, Lucy-Jo captioned the post: “The newest addition to the family – Welcome Baby Reuben. He’s an absolute beauty. Congratulations @oliviadevinex @joshdaley07. He’s already a credit to you, as is Esther, his big sis.”
She continued: “Swipe to see Sienna adoring the baby and Carter more interested in his ice lolly, or ‘lolly ice’ as @lewisdevineofficial would say.”
The post was accompanied by hashtags like #newbabyinthefamily, #babyreuben, and #cousins.
New mum Olivia responded, commenting: “Aww, he loved his cuddles with you all! We can’t wait to make more memories.”
In a candid follow-up, Lucy-Jo reflected on a challenging week, admitting: “I don’t normally post things like this… because I know there are people out there with real problems, and mine are quite inferior to those. But I wanted to speak from the heart here… This week has been tough; I’ve really not coped well.”
She added, “I’ve had a lot of work on, followed by sleepless nights with Carter not being 100%. It’s been really challenging. There are times I’ve been able to cope with his behavior, but this week… it just broke me.”
Lucy-Jo also touched on the challenges of balancing full-time parenting with work, maintaining health, and managing the demands of daily life. She concluded by acknowledging the pressure to show an ‘amazing’ life on social media, despite the struggles behind the scenes.
