Skip Bayless Disses Dawn Staley: Caitlin Clark’s Three-Point Shooting Still a Disgrace!
Staley said Clark's current performance is worthy of a spot on the Olympic team.
The snub Caitlin Clark received from USA Basketball in the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Olympics continues to spark controversy. Despite head coach Dawn Staley’s recent assertion that Clark would likely secure a spot if the selection were held now, controversial analyst Skip Bayless disagrees.
Staley, who is also on the selection committee for Paris 2024, has defended the decision to exclude Clark, suggesting that had Clark performed as she does now a few months ago, she would have been chosen. The committee’s choice has been widely criticized, with many expressing disbelief at Clark’s omission.
On the latest episode of “Undisputed,” Skip Bayless criticized Staley’s defense, claiming Clark has not shown improvement. Bayless argued that Clark’s recent three-point shooting has been poor, stating, “In the last few games, she has been a terrible three-point shooter,” referencing her drop from 0-for-7 to 3-for-8 in recent matches.
Clark’s current three-point shooting percentage stands at 32.7% for the season. However, in July, her performance declined to 27.3%. She has made 71 of 217 attempts, averaging 2.7 shots on 8.3 attempts per game from beyond the arc.
While Bayless stirs controversy with his opinions, and Staley’s comments may suggest bias, the fact remains that Clark was left off the Olympic roster. The only path forward for Clark is to focus on her performance and aim for a spot on the 2028 Olympic team in Los Angeles.
