‘Sorry!’ Caitlin Clark sends errant drive over fans at LPGA pro-am golf event

The WNBA Rookie of the Year and Iowa Hawkeye legend teed it up for the pro-am portion of The Annika, an LPGA event in Belleair, Florida, this week.

One of Clark’s tee shots was a bit errant — “sorry!” she said as she placed a second ball on the tee — but that hasn’t stopped a huge crowd from following her around the course.

Clark’s long-range shooting on the court seems to have translated to the putting greens. She walked in a long putt to a big applause here:

“I’m just the average golfer,” Clark said before the tournament. “I’m going to hit some good, I’m going to hit some bad. … Just going to try not to hit anyone standing outside of the ropes.”

Clark drew huge crowds when she participated in the John Deere Classic in 2023, partnering with fellow Iowan Zach Johnson.
