Kelsey Mitchell’s Comment on Caitlin Clark’s Message Speaks Volumes

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark just finished an unforgettable rookie season. Drafted first overall in April from Iowa, she made an immediate impact in the WNBA, elevating the profile of women’s basketball. Her impressive play drove up jersey sales, packed arenas, and boosted TV ratings to unprecedented levels. This season, Clark earned the WNBA Rookie of the Year title, ranked in the top five for MVP voting, and set a record for the most assists in a single season.

Reflecting on her first year, Clark shared a heartfelt Instagram post: “Thank you to everyone who has supported me as I live my childhood dream. I’m filled with gratitude looking back on this past year. See you all in Year Two.” Among the many supportive responses, teammate Kelsey Mitchell’s comment stood out. Mitchell, who has been a mentor to Clark since day one, referenced their connection, writing, “Clark 22,” a nod to their camaraderie on the team.

Together, Clark and Mitchell were instrumental in leading Indiana to its first WNBA playoff berth since 2016. Clark posted impressive stats for a rookie, averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game. Mitchell, a seasoned player in her seventh season since being drafted second overall in 2018 out of Ohio State, matched her with an average of 19.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

As the WNBA playoffs advance, fans can look forward to two thrilling Game 3 matchups in the semifinals this Friday.
