Home and Away Cash star’s life – co-star romance snub, military exit and famous sister
Channel 5’s Home and Away actor Nicholas Cartwright is best known for playing senior police officer Cash Newman, who arrived in Summer Bay back in 2021. Nicholas made quite an entrance as Cash, wowing viewers with his eagle-eyed detective skills and good looks, and was soon caught in some nail-biting storylines.
Nicholas’s character has become a much-loved part of the drama as fans learned about Cash’s harrowing past, including the murder of his father and being raised in foster care.
Nicholas’s real life outside of his character isn’t quite as dramatic, but it seems acting runs in the family as he has a famous soap star sister.

Before joining the soap, Nicholas served in the Australian Army as a rifleman for six years as he had been deployed to East Timor and Afghanistan.
Nicholas felt that after leaving the Army, he had to shake things up, and he told Perth Now that he needed to fill the void the defence force left. He revealed: “You can kind of feel a little lost when you get out of the defence force, and no one wants to do a normal job.
“So I thought, what’s the craziest thing I can do and decided to go to NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art).” And it was onwards and upwards from there.
Co-star ‘romance’

After Nicholas joined the show, rumours of romantic sparks between him and co-star Sam Frost, who plays Jasmine, quickly ignited on social media.
Viewers flocked to Twitter and commented on whether the two were an item after snaps of them getting close on the show made their way online. Sam quickly shot down the rumours and denied that the two were an item.
Posting a series of pictures of the pair with a drink in hand, she wrote: “I mean… we’re pretty much the same person. Except I’m way funnier.” However, when one fan asked if they were dating in real life, Sam wrote: “Nope… unfortunately for Nic.”

In May last year, Nicholas revealed that his real-life sister Zara Zoe had joined the soap. The 33-year-old shared a series of behind-the-scenes snaps of himself and Zara.
He penned: “Not sure if y’all have seen the promo, but my beautiful lil sister will be joining us on @homeandaway this week!
“I’ve never had more fun on set. It was literally impossible to not look over at her and laugh with joy between takes. Such a wonderful moment to work with family in such a bizarre world. Welcome to the team @nottherealzarazoe! Tune in to see what we get up to.”
