Isla Fisher and Kate Ritchie: 30 Years of Friendship from ‘Home and Away’ to Heartwarming Reunions

The festive season is the perfect time for reunions and former Home and Away stars Isla Fisher and Kate Ritchie recently proved that, taking to Instagram to share a cute snap of the two friends reuniting in London.

Isla played Shannon Reed from 1994 to 1997 and Kate played Sally Fletcher from 1988 to 2008, with a brief reappearance in 2013. The two have remained close friends since meeting on the soap 30 years ago, with the two often documenting their catchups when they’re able to be in the same country.

Isla uploaded a selfie with Kate, captioning it “cozy London reunion” with Kate then reposting the photo saying, “The most wonderful time of the year is true this year”, hashtagging the photo #girlstrip.

Last year, the pair divulged to Kate’s radio show co-hosts Fitzy and Wippa that they went away on a girls’ trip to the Blue Mountains, arriving late at night to an accommodation that Kate labelled “creepy”. Calling Isla the “cheekiest girl she’s met” Kate then spilled that Isla faked an asthma attack so they could instead go check into a different hotel down the road.

“What I remember about that trip is that we were always posing by phallic sort of structures,” Isla said before the two burst into a fit of giggles describing the nature of some of the sandstone structures they posed by.

Aussie website 9Honey recently asked Isla which celebrity girlfriend she would choose to take on the ultimate girls’ trip, with the Hollywood actress naming Kate. “I love Kate Ritchie,” she told the outlet.

The besties have previously shown their love for each other on Instagram, with Kate paying tribute to Isla for her 45th birthday in 2021.

“Still making me giggle like a naughty teenager after all these years… Thank you @islafisher you are one of the best.. ❤🎂❤,” she captioned the post.
