Coronation Street’s Dee-Dee Bailey to make big decision in baby storyline

Coronation Street’s Dee-Dee Bailey will be faced with a life-saving decision, amid baby Frankie’s sudden illness.

Recent episodes saw Lauren Bolton’s son Frankie rushed to hospital after mysterious bruises were found on his body. The doctors said they wanted to run some tests, as the injuries weren’t caused by external trauma.

In upcoming episodes, Lauren is horrified to find out that Frankie is seriously ill and in need of a donor.

Dee-Dee comforts the teenager but finds the situation difficult, as she’s currently keeping quiet about her pregnancy with Joel Deering’s baby – Frankie’s half-sibling.

Dee-Dee has been unsure about whether to continue with her pregnancy and worries about Lauren finding out. She fears Lauren will put pressure on her, asking questions about whether her unborn baby could be a match for Frankie.

In scenes that will air on December 23, Dee-Dee asks Alya Nazir to report back to her about Lauren’s plea hearing.

She then attends her appointment with the genetic counsellor, where they discuss the tests she’ll have to establish if her baby is a suitable donor for Frankie.

Has Dee-Dee decided to keep her baby and potentially save Frankie?

Speaking about Dee-Dee’s decision, actor Channique Sterling-Brown explained: “I think everything has been out of her control for so long, and this is one decision and one choice that she is fully in control of. That is more the thing that is pushing her towards the choice of potentially terminating the pregnancy.

“Especially the fact that it’s Lauren. She has poured so much into Lauren. It’s no fault of Lauren’s, but so much of the turmoil and trauma has been around her. The ask of having a baby on top of everything is such a massive thing for her.”
