Coronation Street’s Leanne Battersby replaced in latest episode
Leanne Battersby has been replaced in the latest Coronation Street episode.
Fans don’t need to worry – Jane Danson is still playing the iconic character but there has been another major development in Leanne’s life.
Leanne recently decided to move out of Nick Tilsley’s flat, before breaking the news to sister Toyah that she wanted to live on her own rather than move somewhere together.
The trio are trying to remain civil after Leanne discovered that Toyah and Nick had an affair while she was involved with The Institute.
In Monday’s (October 28) episode, Leanne confirmed she would be making further changes in her life by deciding she could no longer be front-of-house at the Bistro.
Leanne reckoned that it was no longer feasible to be dealing with Bistro customers because of her involvement with the disgraced cult.
Nick understood Leanne’s decision, but then surprisingly offered the manager job to Toyah. He argued that Toyah would be an excellent professional partner, plus it’d help Leanne get used to seeing them together.
“You know the ropes, you know the rules, you know the clientele. Plus, we work well together,” Nick insisted.
Leanne had an unexpected reaction when she found out Toyah had been offered the Bistro manager job.
“It’s fine,” she assured Nick. “[Toyah] knows everything, she’s familiar with how we do things. So, yeah, good choice.”
Nick was relieved by Leanne’s reaction, though there was a slight edge in her voice as she insisted that “what happened in the past, stays in the past”.
Jane Danson has hinted that Leanne will likely need time to process the trauma of the past few months – both from The Institute and Toyah and Nick’s betrayal.
“I would definitely say there’s trouble ahead, because you can’t go through all that and then just be okay,” she said.
“There’s got to be some scars from what she’s been through. I imagine she’ll feel a bit of a fool as well, because she’s invested in a friendship that she thought was real and that will obviously have some sort of psychological effect later.”
Viewers can expect more heartbreak for Leanne, as it has been reported that Coronation Street will kill her father Les Battersby off-screen as part of a gripping new storyline.
