BREAKING NEWS: Caitlin Clarke’s Angel Reese After Development, Caitlin Clarke Is In Danger

Caitlin Clark’s Rookie of the Year Title in Jeopardy After Angel Reese Voting Controversy

Caitlin Clark, guard for the Indiana Fever, was unanimously named the 2024 Associated Press WNBA Rookie of the Year on Sunday. Her remarkable rookie season saw her post incredible averages of 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game, breaking multiple WNBA records. Clark’s stellar performance also earned her MVP votes, finishing fourth overall in the race for the prestigious award, which was claimed by Las Vegas Aces’ center, A’ja Wilson.

However, controversy erupted when it was revealed that Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese received a fourth-place vote in the MVP race. This unexpected voting decision has sparked concerns about whether Clark will win the WNBA’s official Rookie of the Year award unanimously. Although she secured the unanimous Associated Press title, the Reese voting development could potentially impact her chance at a clean sweep of the award.

Tim Reynolds of AP Sports commented on social media, “It’s unlikely Caitlyn Clark will be the unanimous Rookie of the Year unless the voter that ranked Angel Reese fourth in the MVP race was one of the six who ranked Clark third.” He pointed out that while Clark was the clear favorite, the unusual MVP vote for Reese has left some doubt about whether Clark will secure the WNBA’s official award with unanimous support.

Reese, who averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds this season, had her campaign cut short due to a wrist injury. Despite her strong performance, many believe the fourth-place MVP vote was misplaced. James Boyd of The Athletic strongly criticized the voter, writing, “Whoever used a fourth-place MVP vote on Reese should be banned from voting on major awards forever.”

The backlash from fans and media members highlights the growing tension surrounding the MVP vote and its potential effect on Clark’s chances of securing a unanimous Rookie of the Year title. While Clark is still the frontrunner for the award, this unexpected twist has left room for doubt in an otherwise stellar rookie campaign.
