Home and Away Star Accuses Ex-Husband of Preventing Her from Breastfeeding
In an emotional interview with KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O, Home and Away actress Melissa broke down in tears as she recounted how her ex-husband, Jean-David Blanc, prevented her from breastfeeding their second son, Solal (born in 2015). Melissa revealed that her ex had ordered her to stop breastfeeding because he believed it would harm the child.
“I received a message from him saying exactly that,” Melissa shared during the interview. “He said, ‘As I’ve told you and tried to explain, you need to stop breastfeeding my son or you will kill him.’”
Melissa, now 40, recalled the tension-filled conversations with her ex-husband, especially when their son would wake up in the middle of the night wanting to breastfeed. “The baby would wake up at midnight wanting the breast, not a bottle. What was I supposed to do?” she explained. “Unless you want to put my breasts in a bag, I don’t see any other solution.”
Both radio hosts, Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O, were left shocked by Melissa’s story. The actress further expressed that she wasn’t concerned about her career or her home country, but solely focused on her son’s well-being.
“He took away the right for a child to be breastfed and sent that kind of message, knowing I had to pump milk instead of breastfeeding… it was cruel,” Melissa added.
Despite the distressing revelations about her marriage with Jean-David, Melissa faced a wave of criticism on social media, particularly from Australians, following her appearance on Sunday Night. The backlash stemmed from comments she had made in 2012, where she controversially stated that she preferred Paris and New York over Australia.
Her remark caused outrage at the time and, as a result, many Australians were unsympathetic towards her recent struggles. Some even harshly suggested that Melissa did not deserve compassion or a warm welcome back in her homeland.
