Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark Shatters WNBA Rookie Assist Record in Thrilling Victory!

Caitlyn Clark in Indiana Fever win over Seattle Storm

A professional sports record has been broken up the road in Indianapolis.

WNBA star Caitlin Clark scored 23 points this weekend in a 92-75 winning effort for the Indiana Fever over the Seattle Storm.

More important than that, however, were the nine assists she notched.

That gave her the most assists of any WNBA rookie in the league’s history.

With 232 assists so far this season, Clark broke the previous WNBA rookie record of 224 by Ticha Penicheiro in 1998.

Clark, the No. 1 overall pick selected by the Fever in the 2024 draft, has scored at least 20 points in five of her last six games.

She’s also averaging 23.7 points on 47% shooting from the field, and the 11.7 assists she’s averaged over that span contributed to her breaking the record.

With 13 wins, the Fever has already matched its win total from the 2023 with 12 games remaining in the regular season.

Sunday’s victory over the Storm makes back-to-back wins coming out of the monthlong Paris Olympics break.

It’s a nice boost as Clark and her teammates make a push toward getting into the WNBA Playoffs.

Next up for them is a matchup with the Minnesota Lynx Saturday at 8 p.m. That game will air live on NBATV.
