Revealed: Coronation Street fans are stunned to discover a behind-the-scenes secret about Dylan Wilson, the son of Sean Tully.
The role of Dylan Wilson, currently portrayed by actor Liam McCheyne, was previously shared with his identical twin brother, Connor. The real-life brothers took on the role together when Dylan first appeared on screen in 2011. However, when Dylan returned to Coronation Street in 2022, Connor had already decided to leave ITV and pursue a different career as a cricketer.
Some viewers have only recently discovered the truth that Liam and Connor are twins who both once played Dylan, leaving them astonished. A fan recently posted a photo of the pair on one of the Coronation Street fan pages on Facebook, commenting, “I never knew they were twins.” Another person added, “I had no idea Liam had a twin.” Clearly surprised, another commented, “Wait, what?”
At 17 years old, Liam occasionally shares moments from his family life on social media, including a photo with his brother Connor for Father’s Day this past June. “Wishing a Happy Father’s Day to all dads,” he wrote. “Whether they are with us or not, or if we don’t see them as much as we’d like. Today is a day of appreciation. I have had the privilege of having two dads. One off-screen and one on-screen. Both have significantly impacted my life in very different ways. So, I thank both of them.” He also tagged actor Anthony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully.
Recently, Liam took to social media to thank a co-star for their invaluable “help and advice” after sharing an endearing update with his fans. In January, the young actor celebrated his 17th birthday alongside Connor, sharing a montage of nostalgic photos with his 8,148 Instagram followers. He wrote, “17 years of sharing a birthday with @connormccheyne, not a day goes by where we’re not laughing. Both have different ideas and pathways, but we have the same person to always trust. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
A flood of birthday greetings poured in from fellow cast members, with Anthony sending a heartwarming message: “Happy 17th Birthday to @liammccheyne and his twin @connormccheyne. I’ve known them for most of their lives, and I’m thrilled that Liam continues to play Dylan after all these years. Very proud of them both! Time flies, kids, make the most of it.” Liam previously explained to the Daily Star how his Corrie role was a “total fluke.” “It was a long wait, but it was worth it. It’s been great to be back,” he said about his return to the show in November.
Liam also shared the story behind their auditions for Dylan, where a neighbor on work experience at a local agency connected him and his brother to the opportunity. “My neighbor across the road was on work experience at a local agency, and she asked my mom if we would want to audition. She said that even if we didn’t get the role, it would help her with her work experience.”
